Great Quotes

"I started practicing playing uncomplicated things and solid time. To play as simply and as unnoticed as I could, became as challenging as playing at a high energy level. They're still both equally challenging to me."

If you have a website, could you help support the Drummer Cafe by posting a link to the main website?

If you do this, or have done this in the past, and would like the Drummer Cafe to post a reciprocal link, please send me an IM or email with your WWW address and I'll be sure to add it to the Drummer Cafe reciprocal links on our Resource Links page.

Many of you have asked about posting a Drummer Cafe banner on your website. I'm sorry that I haven't got on this, but I will have something for you to use in the next few days.

I have had the old one up for years.  I don't get much traffic since I retired from flying but maybe a drummer or two drops by occasionally and can see the link.

I have had the old one up for years.  I don't get much traffic since I retired from flying but maybe a drummer or two drops by occasionally and can see the link.

Just an FYI on this type of situation ...

I'm not only wanting others to find out about the Drummer Cafe, but I also want the search engines to see the relevance of the link because it's on another drummer's website.

Search engines, in particular Google, views links and websites as relevant when they are linked to by other websites. So when you add the Drummer Cafe link to your website, you are strengthening the level of importance and popularity of the Drummer Cafe. This is why reciprocal links are so important, and why everyone and their dog wants the Drummer Cafe to exchange links with them. The value comes when you exchange links with another site that is also relevant. So two music related sites does well. Reciprocal links between drummers and percussionists are valuable. A link between a drum related website and auto-body shop, not so good.

So ... if you are a drummer or percussionist, and your website reflects that fact, the linking to the Drummer Cafe will help both you and the Drummer Cafe in search engine results and rankings. It's not THE answer to high rankings or results, but it is ONE of the important ingredients.

FYI ... those "link farms" will do you little good; so don't bother.

At one time I knew that but apparently old age prevented me from connecting the two.  Anyway, it is there and I am waiting for the new one.

I was trying to "capture" the Drummer Cafe logo and seems I'm unable to. Can you put up a logo for us to use as well?

thanks

Okay ... I'm rebuilding the links page with a new design so you can validate your reciprocal link and submit your website link to the Drummer Cafe on your own.

I'm going to add several images that you can use if you would like to use those on your website as well.

Follow the new link in the menu on the right ... click on LINKS.

If you already have a link to the Drummer Cafe, be sure to add your URL to the Reciprocal Links page!

Let me know if you have any trouble as I'm still working on this new feature.

I grabbed the logo from the masthead a while back and shrunk it a bit, this is what I've been using on my site:

Here's some banners to choose from:

You can save them and place them on your website or you can reference from my server.
Please use www.DrummerCafe.com when linking. I'd prefer that if you are going to use a logo banner, use one of these because they have the trademark on the logo. I'll be making some others and updating as soon as possible.

Ah thanks. I hope you know I wasn't complaining or being critical of what you did. I was just wanted others to know that my prolonged neglect has (somewhat) ended ... so no one had to resort to what you had to do Bermuda.

Thank you all for your support!  Cool

One comment about Search Engine Optimizaton (SEO) ...

The best thing you can do for your website and the website of those individuals you are placing a link for (ie. Drummer Cafe) is to use a text link ... like this:

Drummer Cafe
An on-line community for drummers & percussionists from around the world; novice to professional.

One of the less effective ways is to only place a banner with a hyper-link, like this:

Using just the banner is great for individuals, but search engines often times don't register it, so the benefit is gone.

If you want to use a banner, such as for the Drummer Cafe, and want us to fully benefit from it, try doing something like this:

     Drummer Cafe
An on-line community for drummers & percussionists from around the world; novice to professional.

Notice that in this last example, the logo is linked, but there's also some text linked to the website. The text gets optimized as a text link with the search engine. I understand that this might not be something you want on your website, but as far as being beneficial, it's the way to go.

To be honest, links that only point to the Drummer Cafe and are not reciprocated, are the best for the Drummer Cafe. Search engines such as Google deduct page ranking points when two sites exchange links. If you only link to the Drummer Cafe, it serves us well ... if the Drummer Cafe links back to you, we all lose points and our rankings go down.
