When you least expect it, expect it!

Hello all,
I'm about to buy new heads for a Rogers script-badge kit I acquired.  It's a 22" bass with 12/13/16.  I'm new to the world of Rogers, so before I default to simple Ambassadors, I wondered what you guys prefer.  Are there any heads to avoid?

Thanks,
Dan

I owned a script badge white marine pearl kit for about two months befor i sold it. The clear thin-skin2's i had on it were not the ultimate heads for it. The single ply frosteds were the ticket. It would be cool if someone could put the Rogers Logo on the frosted ambassadors for you. Google it, someone surely does this.

I played another Rogers kit years ago that had an 8x12 tom that gave me an immediate eargasm with a frosted amb on it. To this day i still think about that one drum. God! it sounded good.

yep ... coated single-plys (Aquarian Texture coated for me) all around on the toms.

When I got my kit, it had the original kick batter on it, so I put a clear Remo Powerstroke 3 batter that I had laying around, and it sounds real nice.  I use a smooth white Ambassador w/felt strip for the kick resonant head.

I have a strong opinion on this 'cause I've had my Rogers set since 1973, and have tried everything.

I like a good "live" sound that is typical of the traditional Buddy Rich and other Jazz greats, even though I play mostly HARD Rock and Blues. So that's my preference.

Even so, I like the coated remo ambassitors on the top, and the thinner clear diplomats on the bottom. Believe it or not, there is not too much ring, and tuned right there is great attack and awsome resonence.  Often I'm still amazed with the combo every time I play them.

Taste is different from person to person, though

I have a  Rogers Blue Strata Script kit that i recently changed heads on.
The new heads i'm trying are the Remo Fiberskyn 3 FA's.  Put them on the 12" & 14" tom
and the 20" bas drum batter and they sounded great IMO.  They had a lot more depth      and a much fatter sound than the Evans G1's.  I use them in church and I'm generally playing very low volume though.  Blastics and brushes mostly.
