Hello there. I have been playing drums set for 20+ years and have recently started playing the Doumbek (Rounded Rim) . I hold the drum in the traditional style. I alway like to learn proper technique first) My problem is with the ka stroke (left hand) I am following David Kuckhermann's method of allowing the wrist to hit the drum shell so the ring finger strikes near  rim. I actually hear my hand hit the shell as the ring finger strikes. My question it two: " Should I be hearing this and what excercises can be done to strengthen the ka and develop more facility with it?
