Radio King or Supra? Any hard (or even debatable) evidence? Is there an actual list anywhere?
Rant on!

Given that Hal Blaine is one of the most recorded drummers in history (if not the most!), the most recorded drums would have to be his! He played a lot of Ludwig stuff, so I'll say Supra!

"What were the Motown guys using...?"
Anyone wants to vouch for the RK?

Anyone wants to vouch for the RK?
I've read on Cymbalholic that the drums on most of the Hitsville-Motown recordings were relatively worthless, mismatched pieces from a pawn shop---so if RK's met those requirements and were found in a pawn shop of the day, "maybe". Side note, this, but I read in the same post how the heads were ketchup-stained from the drums being used as dinner tablesAnyway, I would DEFINITELY say Supra, both because of Hal, et al. who played it and because it was a common drum that happened to meet the requirements. Also, I read in MD's Earl Palmer interview that he claimed "Stoney End".

I'm not a particularly slow player, yet I don't play fast. I play half-fast.

yes, most likely Supra. Jeff Porcaro used it a lot, and Steve Gadd used it on almost every picture I've seen of him. Does anyone know what snare drum Jim Gordon used to play? I know that he used a Camco set, sometimes with a mismatched Tama additional tom. Jim Gordon played on a huge amount of records, as well.

Hal's book "Hal Blaine and the Wrecking Crew" contains an extensive list as well. I hear he's working on a new book that will have an even more complete discography.

Oh....cool. I didn't know he was working on a new book. The Wrecking Crew is great...a time in history that will never be repeated. Good read for the aspiring drummer.
I love Hal Blaine.

Hal Blaine's list is indeed impressive, but then I began searching Earl Palmer... Although there is no conclusive list of "Top 10s" like Blaine's, what I found was just as impressive: performed with: Fats Domino Pat Boone Arthur Adams Lee Allen Johnny Almond Ernie Andrews David Axelrod B. Bumble & the Stingers Dave Bartholomew The Beach Boys Earl Bostic Teresa Brewer Roy Brown Charles Brown Tim Buckley Henry Cain Michael Edward Campbell Ray Charles David Clayton-Thomas Rosemary Clooney Buddy Collette Sam Cooke Priscilla Coolidge Elvis Costello Dick Dale Doris Day Neil Diamond The Dillards Floyd Dixon Don & Dewey The Easy Riders Duane Eddy Harry "Sweets" Edison Gene Estes The Everly Brothers Phil Everly The 5th Dimension Ernie Freeman & His Combo Dizzy Gillespie Tim Hardin Screamin' Jay Hawkins Lightnin' Hopkins Jim Horn Jan & Dean Carol Kaye Sarah Kernochan King Pleasure B.B. King Peggy Lee Smiley Lewis Little Feat Little Richard Nellie Lutcher Jimmie Maddin Taj Mahal The Mamas & the Papas Harvey Mandel Teena Marie Percy Mayfield Buddy Merrill Amos Milburn Bobby Mitchell The Monkees Maria Muldaur Michael Murphey Rick Nelson Michael Nesmith Art Neville Nanci Nevins Randy Newman Johnny Otis Fess Parker Van Dyke Parks Joe Pass The Platters Dory Previn Lloyd Price Professor Longhair Alton Purnell Bonnie Raitt Lou Rawls The Righteous Brothers The Rip Chords Howard Roberts Andy Robinson Chan Romero Diana Ross Freddie Roulette Maxine Sellers Gilbert Shelton Shirley & Lee Frank Sinatra Nancy Sinatra Huey "Piano" Smith Phil Spector The Spiders Splinter Jimmy Stewart Barbra Streisand Gene Summers Roosevelt Sykes Johnnie Taylor Tongue & Groove Big Joe Turner Tina Turner Gary Usher Bobby Vee Eric Von Schmidt Tom Waits T-Bone Walker Dinah Washington Larry Williams Paul Williams Jimmy Witherspoon Sheb Wooley Jim Gordon Vincent DeRosa Red Callender Frank Fields David Axelrod Barney Kessel Victor Feldman Buddy Collette ...and many more REF: www.drummerworld.com
