Went to a show today by the Strike team. Very interesting and if ever in your part of the woods i recommend to check out. The three drummers played different parts of their cage set up as well as on a marimba and Samoan log drums.
They played examples of a rainforest and showed how some basic rhythms put together make up the island log rhythms. Imagine taking each part of a drum kit and giving it each to a different drummer and then ask each to play to get one rhythm together. This is what they did, and were adding other complimentary rhythms, dynamics and humour amongst it all, very effective.

I think you need to see them to get a better idea anyway here is the web site
