That was probably worth a couple million U.S. right there. Don't think I've ever seen a shot like that on U.S. soil. I know just enough about soccer to know the technical ability of that shot was about 9.5 out 10. I'm impressed. He fooled everyone ... no bend, which is probably why the goalie and his wall were scratching their heads.

But, the commentators referred to a bend---and I thought I saw a rather wide one?  Were they mistaken?

In any case, I'm impressed.  I say this as someone who has great respect for soccer, but doesn't follow it.

I'm not a particularly slow player, yet I don't play fast.  I play half-fast.

Yeah, that looks confusing. It wasn't the Beckham Bend.

Pretty nice, I wish him many more! Still liked him best in Manchester United though. Ferguson brought out the best in him.

I thought I saw a bend too. It was like a slow arc, moving high right to low left.

This is really what Beckham is about these days.
He's slow in the field.....too slow.
But he can win games with those free kicks and corner kicks that ask questions of the defence.

I got a chance to see him playing again for England. He looked impressive, I just hope that constantly going from club to country doesn't take too much of a toll on him.
