I have had ART treatment on a number of muscles (not in my arms). IME, ART was only slightly effective and not all insurance plans cover it. I had better results seeing a physical therapist treating myofascial pain.

I highly recommend getting "The Trigger Point Therapy Work Book" by Davies & Davies or a book like it. It covers pains and referred pains for over worked muscles from head to toe and is very reader friendly. It also gives excellent advice for massage technique and frequency.

IME, a book like this is a must have for any drummer who practices daily. Most people assume that it was something the did once to over stress a muscle, like opening a jar or using a hammer. In fact, most muscle pain related injuries take time to build up and a proactive treatment is paramount.

I have a confession to make:

I don't warm up, usually.  I would like to but sometimes I forget or just don't have time.  And honestly sometimes when I have warmed up, after a gig I'm really feeling it.

Last night I did not warm up (as usual) played (a gig) and actually I feel great today.  I play too man, I don't just sit back and pull a Charlie Watt's imitation all night.

To be honest... I get more muscle pain when I stretch or warm up too hard on a pad, whatever.

I don't know.
