Bit of a long shot.
If any english members (or anyone in england) fancies coming to birmingham on said date to see me and my band play our funk that would be much apprieciated. I'd love to have a drink and a good long chat about drums with one of the cafe members.
Message me for any information.

I'm moving to the UK at the end of the week. I would love to come see you, and Brum is just up the road from where I'll be living - BUT - I'm getting married the day before and have a reception on the 29th. I don't think my wife - as supportive as she is of my drumming - would appreciate me taking off for pints and drum-nerding... Wink

Best of luck, maybe next time! Keep us posted.

Where will you be?

Edit: oh, hang on, I just found your PM. Luton, yes? I have this horrible feeling I didn't get around to replying. Sorry about that.

I'm at the Bar Academy right in the centre of birmingham.

Boomka, I can understand why you can't come. I'd imagine your wife wouldn't be too pleased Smiley. I'll message you if we get another gig around that time. It would be awesome to meet a fellow drummer cafe'r. If anybody wants me to keep them posted about gigs just let me know.

I've played upstairs at the Academy! Nice. Yes, keep us updated.

This may sound idealistic, but this is what the internet was envisioned to be by the early web-gurus: a place where geographically separated people could come together and create relationships and communities of mutual interest. I haven't even set foot in the UK (not in a while, that is) and already I've made several connections to people in my industry and/or with the same interests. It's fantastic...

Yeah, I'm a geek...  Tongue

No, I completely understand you. If it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't know any of these fine people that are members on the forum. Once you have moved near birmingham keep me posted on anything you're doing as well. Will you be looking to start or join a band once you move here?
