Anyone an Alter Bridge fan? Their new record Blackbird came out the 9th, and personally I think Phillips did great a job supplying the band with real rock n' roll drums. He's a master at playing what needs to be played in a heavy rock setting; nothing more, nothing less. Any thoughts? If you haven't heard the record, and you at least remotely enjoy a good modern heavy rock tune now and then, you need to check the album out.

I've been playing the crap out of (almost typed "outta" - don't want to anger the spelling police! Tongue) the new album - I'm expecting my iPod hard drive to die any day now from me playing "Ties That Bind" over and over... and over and over.

I was not initially interested in getting the album, and I got to really dislike Creed, and Alter Bridge's first album sounds like more of the same to me... But the new one definitely sounds like a different band, and is heavy enough to consistently rock my face off.

Agreed. Phillips definitely shines on Ties That Bind. The song Blackbird is quite a trip...Buried Alive is killer... Brand New Start is a nice quieter one, but that guitar solo is nuts.
