Ok, so here's the deal. I have a DW 5000 pedal, I got it used and it seems like it's in good condition, but there's a problem that I can't figure out how to fix. To forewarn you, I've never had any lessons or anything so I don't know any of the terminology or even the names of the different parts of the pedal, so please dumb things down for me. :-)
Essentially, the problem is that the hinge that fastens onto the main pedal seems to get stuck on itself. What I mean by that is that the rotating mechanism, or the twisty thing, whatever you want to call it, jams when the beater is an inch or two from the drum head. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone. Here's a picture.

Let me know if I'm making sense or not. I tried moving the beater forward, which seemed to work at first, but it still gets caught sometimes, which makes it hard to do anything with it. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Oh, and so you know, this isn't a picture of mine, it's just a picture I found on Google. :-)
