I picked up one of these 3x13 steel Piccolo snares a while back for $40. I replaced the batter with an ambassador and just gave a quick tune up. Its not terrible but the over tones are bit on the harsh side. Moon gel fixes that but loses the character of the drum.

Anybody have any killer mods they have discovered on these things?
