Yes I own one, but only because i gained it from a friend. But i can't find much information about it, I'm interested in selling it, but am not sure what kind of price to ask for it? After taking it to a local drum shop they said they think its very old maybe 30 years old, and could be one of zildjians later hand hammered cymbals. But they hadnt actually seen one before?

I was just wondering if anybody knows any more information about it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember correctly they were introduced mid to late 70s and never went over well.  I think they were to be Zildjian's answer to the Chinas but I am old and I could be all wrong.

The Z series first made an appearance in 1986.
They were marketed as loud rock cymbals.
Zildjian used a new computer system to hammer the cymbals, which were very much heavier than a standard A series.
Both the monikers; Z and Custom are relitively recent labels in Zildjian marketing.
I'd say the cymbal was most likely 90's.
Not very rare and worth an average amount for a loud rock cymbal.

One option would be to contact Zildjian directly and ask. I've found them most helpful in the past. They likely can't value the cymbal for you, but you could at least find out what it is, when/how it was made. I can't find an email address for Customer Support, but their snail mail address is:

By the way, the Z Custom is a current series from Zildjian. It's just that they've deleted the Power Smash from their catalogue.
Used 18" Z Customs (China's and Crashes) seem to go for between $100 and $200.

That's probably a good ballpark for a cymbal like that - in good condition, of course.
I can't recall seeing any for sale myself, and eBay doesn't turn up any recent finished sales. Sounds like the kind of thing that may have a limited market. But, sometimes things like that get the best dollar because there are a few guys who really love them and are sad they aren't made anymore. Knowing a little bit more about the cymbal would help you dress up the description and find a buyer, I bet.

I missed the Z Custom part.  Didn't Zildjian have a Power Smash in the 70s or have I completely lost my mind?

Thanks for all your help guys.

I have emailed Zildjian and I am awaiting a reply.

Hopefully I will find somebody who can give the cymbal and good home.
