Have any stories where someone gave you some negative feedback, but it was funny or not too embarrassing to share?

From last night:  I auditioned for a college jazz ensemble course.  Instructor threw out two tunes with different styles to see how we sounded.  First was a swing.  Fine.
Second was a bossa nova feel, but meant to be slightly uptempo.  He said so, counted it, we started, and he cut it right off.  Then he [sorta ]barked at me with: "you gotta be Right in there, on top of the beat and not dragging it.  In Latin jazz circles, they'd Cut you if you did that just once."  His eyes jumped a little out of their sockets as he said *Cut*.   Ok boss, message received.       I was on top of it fine for take 2.   

I'm in the ensemble - and looking forward to it.

Nope, its to embarrasing and it beats your little mishap by a mile! . Now if i wasnt the monster player i am with an ego the size of New York id have been ruined.

I know that guy, he was our band director in the Army band. Go figure, he played trumpet before getting a commission at the "School of Music" in Norfolk. Lost his lip in the war. I figure it must have been his war, not ours.
