A fellow named Nick Mickle has invented a device for drummers who use a Double Kick Drum Pedal or two Bass drums. The "gadget" allows you to move your left foot from your HiHat pedal to your left Kick drum pedal. The gadget supposedly senses where your foot is and holds your HiHats right where you had them last ... and when you move your left foot back to your HiHat pedal your HiHat operates normally. It's basically a small device that you attach to any HiHat stand.

When I first heard of this a few months ago, I was fascinated by the idea (and the price was very reasonable), but I thought I'd never make use of it. I just never wanted a double pedal, I have enough problems with the single one.
But now as I'm hopefully joining a kind of hard rock / metal band, I've started to think about it again...
(BTW, any ideas how an old dog can painlessly learn how to use a double pedal?)
 

I think it's quit interesting. I'd like to give it a try. Do you know how/where we can purchase the Gadget?

Looks like it might be an improvement to the regular drop-clutch.  The drop clutch I have is a little annoying because there's some "play" in the action on it.  I like the idea that the hats don't have to be totally closed if you don't want.  That gadget has a lot of potential!

I am not sure.  That was the way it looked on the video.  It seems he was moving his heel to lock it in the position before removing his foot.  I could be wrong.
