I'm wondering if there exists a genre of music that lacks a Christian equivalent.

Hehe...nope.

To the OP:  You might enjoy the music of Mastodon.  I've really been enjoying the "Leviathan" album.  It's all inspired by Moby Dick.  (Whalecore   Grin)  Their followup, Blood Mountain, is also quite good.  The songs tend to be more fantastical in nature, rather than hateful.

I got to watch Brian Dailor play this music with his guitar player at PASIC. I did enjoy watching him.  His music is heavy. He is a drummer with no formal training. Very fast hands but he kept shaking them after every song like he was feeling some discomfort? Yea, Fun music with lots of energy.

My guess is that his compulsion to place his ride at an obscene angle is messing with his wrists.

Edit:  Found 2006 MDFest footage...He's playing to a track in this one.  You can see the ride though.

I would guess that over time he'll figure out a better angle for himself. I done that for a very short time. I figured out what was right for "me"....Took a few hard knocks and hurting wrists to figure that out.  Roll Eyes

Now wait a minute guys. This is a bit off topic so I will show this and we will get right back on the thread but who says it is the wrong angle? I wouldn't argue with this guy.
I also got to see him a PASIC. You find that different things work for different people.

Now, as far as heavy music goes I like "Enter Sand Man even if it is old". I like "Kashmir". We used to call that Metal or Acid Rock or something like that back about 35 years ago.
Metal??? That is the question.  How about checking out the movie "Heavy Metal". Lot's of the Red Rocker. What is Metal these days?

I don't get it . . . clearly the problem is the music, not the lyrics!
