To me two bands inparticular that i still enjoy as much today as i did back in the stone age are Zeppelin and Purple. At one point i breathed ate slept Lynard Skynard but im not crazy about them today. I was also a big Uriah Heep fan and today i never play their stuff. Hmm?. You?.

I loved Moody Blues music. This is the first time I thought of them for a long time. All of a sudden Uriah Heap popped in my head. Now you've got me going....Young Rascals. Janis Joplin & Jefferson Airplane. Was Brain Dead a band? It's not that many bands don't grow with me. I just have managed to put several bands in the back of my mind. I either like a band or I don't.

I can't recall a band that I enjoy less today than yesterday.....I guess all kinds of music grow with me, more or less......Things I used to hate yesterday, I find quite enjoyable today....I think it's good to give all sorts of music a chance to grow with you

For me it's an entire decade. I still enjoy music from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 90s. But a lot of the stuff from the 80s no longer does anything for me.

Hmmm, when I think of dark times it is now. At least on the radio/commercial level. Time or no time, it won't ever grow on me.

I also hate some bands that have been played to death.
There is alot of prog rock that I can't stand now either. Queensreich (or however you spell it) and Dream Theatre are a couple bands I was into that I can't stand now.
I still like Rush though, even though I don't listen to them very much now.
This weekend I am setting up my turntable and cassette player in a recently refurbished room here, so I will probably go back thru some of my old tapes, vinyl and cds to have a listen. I'm looking forward to that.

Felix, I have to agree with you. I love Satriani's music but Yngwie drives me Nutz after about two songs. I was never into the Hair Metal Bands of the 80's. This was a time when I stayed in the 70's and I guess I am still stuck in the late 60's, and 70's, even though I like a few more modern bands Like 3 Doors Down or Alice and Chains. I will never get tierd of Led Zeppelin, The Guess Who, early Queen, Steve Miller, early Journey, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull Etc, Etc. Modify: Dave is right, a bit off topic so I will state that I used to be a huge Skynyrd fan too but can't really get into their music anymore. Nutty

In the spirit of the original post, if I had to select one band that I used to dig, but don't care for much any more it'd have to be the Stones. I appreciate their longevity, the impact they've made - and Charlie is a legend - but the music just doesn't hit me the way it used to.

I'm not sure I dislike anything that I used to like. Even disco (an' I was a fan--took disco dance lessons an' all! )--I even have a Nu Shooz song on my player . And the 80's was my era, seeing as those were my high school/college years. But there's plenty of new music I like too. I'm enjoying some of the music my son is listening to (Breaking Benjamin, Social Distortion, etc), I like some rap and hip hop. And still like the old classics. Never cared for reggae, still don't. Altho...I never really was a Beatles fan (ducks, runs for cover...) robyn

I'm not sure I dislike anything that I used to like. Even disco From my point of view, Some disco actually aged far better than I would have anticipated. When it was happening, I was making fun of it. Yet, all these years later, when I listen to some stuff, I Have to tip my hat. Donna Summer definitely brought the Hot Stuff. She was a Fantastic artist. Deserving of Much respect in music history.

Whoever said 'now', I feel the same. Top 40 is crappier now than I have heard in a long time. I do like the Foo Fighters a bit and just about anything with Chris Cornell doing the singing, but other than that...uggh. Still big fan of Zep, the Stones etc.

Altho...I never really was a Beatles fan (ducks, runs for cover...) Robyn, Ringo brought drumming to the people! I just checked and I have 517 Beatle songs on my IPod. My favorite is "Sweet Georgia Brown." You would not know it was the Beatles. It is from their very early years.

Two bands that never "grew" in my opinion were/are ACDC and ZZtop. Love their music, but really they have been playing the same basic stuff for 20 (30?) years now. It might be sacrilegious, I might put the Stones in the that category. They just never evolved like the Who, Zep, or the Beatles. A few great bands that I think "grew" in horrid directions were Jefferson Airplane/starhip, Styx, Foreigner (too mention a few). Not a fan of modern Aerosmith (post Draw the line) either. Maybe more If I can think of any...Bob

yeah, actually I am burned out on led zeppelin, the who and most of the classic rock bands. They were the pioneers, but it doesn't mean I like them now.
I almost cringe everytime I hear Robert Plant's voice. I just don't like it anymore.
I like the new stuff.

Well, I really like Plant's voice but I understand what you mean Felix. I feel the same way about Geddy Lee. As a matter of fact most of the singers that sounded like they had a rubber band wrapped around their privates to hit those notes I can't hardly take anymore. Triumph, Rush, Type music. I guess the only ones I haven't been bothered by are Queen, Journey and Yes. Very nice falsetto voices in those three or four singers. I say four because I really liked Roger Taylor's voice. Nutty

You wouldnt know it was the Beatles because Tony Sheridan was the singer. I'm a huge 60's and oldies person along with classic rock. There's been some bands that i've never liked (AC/DC, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Van Halen, CCR, Eagles), but if the thread starter was asking for a band you used to really dig but dont anymore, it would have to be Pink Floyd. I ruined myself on Floyd while I was in college (even the early Syd Barrett albums). Unfortunately, I was young and stupid and smoked a lot of pot back then and I took it upon myself to study this band for 4 years. To me at the time, Floyd was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Now, they bore me to death. I actually turn the channel if they come on the radio and that means any song. I have yet to get sick of the Beatles though and thats been 30+ years. Go figure.

Band that hasn't grown with me.. Nirvana. Was crazy about them a few years go. My musical taste grew a lot, and really widened out. Now whenever a Nirvana song comes on in my shuffle, I immediately change it. I just cringe at the sound of Kurt Cobain's voice and/or guitar now. Still love Dave/The Foo Fighters though.
