Has anyone checked out Herbie Hancock's River: The Joni Letters?

I'm sorry to say that I haven't yet, but I'm going to. Rather than listen to sample tracks on Amazon, I'm just going to purchase the CD.

For those that don't know ...

River: The Joni Letters is the 2008 Grammy-winning album by Herbie Hancock. It was released on September 25, 2007 by Verve Records. The tribute album is an homage to Joni Mitchell, a longtime associate and friend of Hancock. Both Hancock and saxophonist Wayne Shorter previously collaborated with Mitchell on the 1979 jazz album, Mingus.

Personnel include:
    * Herbie Hancock – piano
    * Wayne Shorter – soprano and tenor saxophone
    * Dave Holland – bass
    * Lionel Loueke – guitar
    * Vinnie Colaiuta – drums

Cool, I didn't know Vinnie was on there!  I love Herbie's stuff.  I have a ton of stuff he recorded with Miles and on his own in the 60's.  I also have a few of his 70's funk jazz.  I have to admit that his stuff in recent years hasn't done much for me though.  How about a review for us?   Grin
