The Buddy Rich footage was AMAZING. As a young drummer (relatively) I've not been exposed to nearly enough vintage drumming. I've seen the gorilla vid before... I don't know where... but I have.

Hey Bart I just want to say thank you for the inspiration with the site, The TV thing is a great idea. I have been struggling with ideas for a new project because of pirating and the general shift the internet has caused in our profession. I have been kind of behind the times with the net a little bit. Your work here has inspired me. If you can I would love to rap on the phone with you.

Thanks Phil. I'd be happy to speak with you and see if there's anything I can help you with. I'm having fun with DCTV although it is very time consuming. I get a little carried away, like the new CYMBAL thriller (public service announcement) that I created; a parody of Alfred Hitchcock's Pyscho. I don't know exactly how many hours I spent on it, the concept and idea came very quickly, but all the time editing and finding footage ... definitely put in 20+ hours over the course of a week. All that to say I WILL be airing CYMBAL more than just this week!  hahaha |

Good question. At this time I'm not archiving the entire episode, but various segments are archived elsewhere on the Drummer Cafe website. Much of this is available to registered members, but some segments are archived for VIP Members only. Places to look would be Resources | Video Footage as well as Education | 5-Minute Lessons. I would recommend that you visit these parts of the site every few days or at least once a week IF you are looking for past episode content. It takes me awhile to get content from past DCTV episodes to their permanent archived homes. |

Thanks for your efforts. I think every 2 wks would be good, I'm don't want to have a busy week and miss one.

Thanks Bob ... glad you dug the episode. I had a lot of fun with the Hitchcock thing. I was really pleased with the toilet shot with all the chemical cans in there. I found other footage of Hitchcock and flew in some of the words to make it work .... "assembly" for the drumset instead of 'hotel' and "dirt" instead of 'blood' in the bathroom. I still want to do a new episode each week if at all possible. Since I'm archiving most of the footage to other locations on the site, I would just assume to keep it a weekly show. Two weeks is an awfully long time to wait for a new show ... although with the work it takes to edit and create the content, I wouldn't mind the extra time! hahaha Bobby Standridge spent 18 months working on the Rush animation of YYZ. Pretty good for his first animation project like this. He did this a little over 3 years ago, and we've seen it here on the site in the past. I figured there were a lot of people who have never seen it before, hence the reason for showing it on DCTV. |

Thanks Larry. Actually the cymbal hole was supposed to represent the girl's eye. The close of the eye with the camera rotating and backing away to reveal her body. I took that approach with the cymbal. Hey, you liked it, I don't care! hahaha I will definitely consider changing the schedule of DCTV to be every two weeks. If enough people feel like you, and there are others, then perhaps I need to seriously consider doing that. I would archive each episode as a whole, but that sort of defeats my goal of generating interest every week ... and someday, maybe even an advertiser or two. Archiving the content, with the bulk of it only being available to VIP Members is to <clears throat> try and encourage people to become VIP Members. I see your points. Every two weeks would be much easier on me! I could make the shows a little longer, and the content would be able to be more in depth. I've some upcoming interviews that I think everyone will enjoy ... and a few more surprises. If there are others who feel like two week episodes would be better, please email me or voice it here. If you don't like DCTV or don't plan on watching it, there's no need to voice your opinion on this particular topic. Thank you ALL for the feedback; I really do appreciate your input. |

I'll give some input. I think the DCTV is great. Every episode has been really, really good. I like having it to watch every single week. I would completely understand if it needed to be every 2 weeks instead. I have to say that I do enjoy having something to watch every single week. I probably have more time available than most people, so that isn't an issue for me.
For the record, I really love how you have been taking current issues that are running in the cafe and teaching them in the episodes.

One possibility, rather than just running one episode for two weeks, is for me to continue creating a new one-hour show each week but still run the previous week's episode right after the new week's episode. This way if you missed the week before you could continue watching after the present week's episode. This would be as much as two-hours of footage. It takes me awhile to archive everything anyway, so running each segment for two weeks would work nicely ... I think. If you SEARCH you'll be able to find the archived topics you might be looking for. I've archived the following: The CYMBAL public service announcement (Hitchcock spoof) is archived in the Care & Feeding of Cymbals. Many of these topics are going to be ongoing segments, so new footage, once aired on DCTV, will be archived accordingly. Some archived footage is only available to VIP Members such as ROCK TAMBOURINE 101, ROCK SHEKERE & CABASA 101 and Billy Ward's 2006 Clinic. |
