I suppose if you were always going to do solo compositions/gigs or recordings then fine-continue with this time system.  

But if I were you I would expand your 5:4, 7:4 groupings and rests.  My band is exploring playing rests using quintuplet subdivisions of the quarter.  It's cool and I'd say the learning curve would be faster for you and others, plus you could notate it so people could read it relatively quickly.  I think there is PLENTY of room to be creative in the current counting systems.  Maybe you don't...that is the price of genius I suppose.  But if it doesn't sound cool, then what's the point?  People like and relate to certain things about music.  I like to tell one of my studio clients who likes to play "outside" and that is don't alienate the listener.  Be like a Mozart or a Beethoven (pick your fav. artist) and make an incredible work with the CURRENT system.  To me, that is impressive.
