That set is so gorgeous it hurts.

I haven't checked yet but is this different from the set he uses on the "Voices in my Head" DVD? He uses two different kits and one of them is the new Jazz series (I believe).
I don't know whether these are the new 'X' shell drums or...?
I recently played at a company jam session at the Daddario/Evans offices here in SoCal. Daddario president Rick Drumm (industry vet, formerly of Remo) was there and sat in. I got to talk with him a bit and one thing I mentioned was what a valuable endorsee Billy was for Evans (as well as Zildjian and DW). I mentioned that Billy's such a great player but makes drumming look
fun as he is such a strong proponent of sound. He does that on both the Big Time and 'Voices' DVD. DW gets great props (OK...If I'm hip I know I'm supposed to write 'mad props'.....just can't do it) as Billy gushes over the sound of the drums like a proud parent. You can say that the VIMH DVD is a DW production so it would follow that he would. However he does similar things on Big Time on his own dime. He just loves these drums as well as his heads and cymbals. Heck, I have two gorgeous sets (Gretsch and Yamaha) and
I want some of those birch DW's he plays after watching the videos for awhile.
On another note, I was able to play some of the 'pre-announcment' Jazz series drums about a year and a half ago at the Hollywood Vintage and Custom drum show. They sounded wonderful. Very 'Gretschy'. Back then they were just saying that the shells were gum/maple (or something like that) with no series name attached. I had fun playing them and heard others play them while standing back. Very nice either way.
But....
They didn't look like these supermodels. EEeeeee...... get 'em outta' my sight before I'm living in my car...sleeping next to drums.
