No, no, no ... let's not that! There was nothing "secret" about it ... it was all over the news each time there was a buyout. Guitar Center/Musician's Friend was purchased almost a year ago (June 2007) and I reported it HERE. Just because you didn't hear about this until recently doesn't mean it's "secret".

Bain Capital Inc. is major leveraged buyout (private equity) firm. They purchased KB Toys back in December 2000, Toys-R-Us (and all associated "R-Us" stores) in July 2005, and the Guitar Center, Inc. in June 2007. Nothing "secret" about any of that.

I don't know where you are getting your news.

Sorry, it drives me crazy when some starts a rumor and then it gets spread to the point that everyone believes it's fact. Dave Heim is right ... and we've discussed this before ... DW drums are made in the USA. Only their low-end line, Pacific, is made in Mexico.

I heard it from an associate of GC from Fairfax, Virginia.  And he said that DW assembles the drums in the USA, but the actual wood themselves are made elsewhere.  But that's what he told me like I said.  He also told me about the "buyout", and it was the first time I've heard of it because I don't really think that'd be something a GC associate would talk about.

And sorry that I'm not so up to date on things.  I don't really pay attention to the media...
