Groovin' on "Cissy Strut"!

I was able to make it out to the NAMM Show this weekend, actually just on Sunday because of some out of town gigs.

There were some new drums and drum/percussion related products that I tried to get photos of as well as video footage for Drummer Cafe TV.

The highlight for me was getting to sit down with Roy Burns and visit with him for about 30-minutes. I'll be sharing my interview with him on DCTV very soon. We talked about his career, how he got started playing drums, his first drumkit, his time with Rogers and CBS, gigs, clinics and of course Aquarian drumheads.

Be watching for photos and video footage!

Bart, did you play that Traps kit? I've always been curious what those sound like and what kinds of applications beyond practice they would have.

Nice to see Ludwig finally doing a bubinga veneer.  It took them long enough, but it looks great.

The copper looking Rogers had to be a wrap... right Bart?

These are just like the old Purecussion kits which I sold at my drum shop in the early 1990-92. I've used them successfully for practice, rehearsals and even gigs (pit-work and jazz).

Yes, copper wrap over wood.

Part 1 of my report from the Summer NAMM Show (Nashville) is now showing on DCTV.

Exclusive interview with Roy Burns (almost 30-minutes!), plus new Aquarian products such as their new T100 texture coating as well as the Tru-Bounce practice pad.

Ludwig has a new products, the Ludwig Centennial Maple shell drum set and Black Magic snare drums.

The Kelly Shu kick drum mic mount; interview maker Jeffrey Kelly.

I've added Part 2 of my report, the remainder of my video footage, from the Summer NAMM Show. Includes the YAMAHA PHX Phoenix drumset and Hex Rack System. There's also an interesting gadget for the kitchen called the Spice Drum.

If you missed Part 1, no worries ... I'm including it again in this episode of DCTV.

I didn't know this until the NAMM Show, but YAMAHA is now the official distributor of Paiste cymbals for North America. You can see the Paiste display in my photos as well as my interview with Yamaha rep Dave Jewel.

So what do you think of the new Yamaha PHX Phoenix shells? I heard them on the showroom floor, but didn't get to actually play them. They sounded good; warm and full.

You can read more about them hear at the Drummer Cafe ...
