Greetings Drummer Cafe residents around the globe!

This weekend is Thanksgiving in Canada; time to celebrate the harvest.

I just put a 4.55 Kilo (4550 grams or 10 lbs) turkey on my charcoal smoker. Inside the turkey are onions and lemons (no stuffing). The turkey has been coated in lemon juice, garlic, oregano (from Greece) freshly ground black pepper and a few other tasty spices. I am using wet Catalpa as my smoke source this year; I had to trim my Catalpas recently, so into the smoker goes the cuttings. Catalpa has a sweet smoke, reminiscent of sugar maple.

Also on the menu: yams (sweet potatoes), potatoes, a carrot-parsnip mix, stuffing with the giblets, and a bottle or two of a lovely 2005 Jackson-Triggs Proprietor's Estate Cabarnet Sauvignon from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia.

The weather is stunning today; it is clear, very little wind, sunny and about 16 degrees Celcius.

I'm in Minnesota. Depending on what part of Canada I can be at the border in 3 hours. Save some for me!  Cheesy

The turkey was magnificent! There's nothing like a turkey slow-cooked over wood and charcoal.

And I'm in Montreal - a bit of a drive from either NYC or Minnesota  Grin

Probably not a big deal to get to your place from NDG however.  Smiley  Unfortunately I got to this thread too late.

Hey Tim,
     I'm just getting back into drumming after almost fours years.  My work schedule was such that I couldn't commit to anything regular or steady, and since I live in an apartment I can't play at home.   I've recently started getting together with a friend to do some recording but I don't think that it will lead to any playing in public.

Hey Rob;

I have a gig with Amanda Mabro at Cabaret Juste Pour Rire (on St-Laurent)  November 6th, if you'd like to come out and see me play. Like I tell everyone that I know; come out to see me, but stay because of Amanda!  Grin

I'd love to meet you!

I also have a few coffee house and brewery gigs (Yellow Door & St-Ambroise Brewery) with another local singer-songwriter type, Matt Stern.
