If any Drummer Cafe members are going to be at the show tomorrow and Sunday ... let me know by posting here. I'd love to connect with some of you if possible.

I'm in Milwaukee right now but will be at the show both days. I'll be covering for the show for DCTV and the Drummer Cafe.

I'll do my best, but I'm driving in from Milwaukee tomorrow morning ... so I doubt I'll get there until 10am.

Here's a slide show (photos from today) which I'll be updating later today and tomorrow.

<a href="http://www.drummercafe.com/media/slideshow/DrummerCafe.swf" target="_blank">http://www.drummercafe.com/media/slideshow/DrummerCafe.swf</a>

I've got video from the Bob Moses and Carmine Appice clinics, plus an interview with Bermuda. I'll be doing more interviews tomorrow and hope to video the Cindy Blackman clinic. I missed Billy Ward but hope to see him tomorrow as well. Should have some good interviews with a number of drum-makers and manufactures; quite a few agreed to allow me to interview them.

I didn't get to spend as much time there as I would have liked. I did however get to see Bart, meet Bermuda and Dave Heim....What a great group of guys and a great representation of the class of our DC family.

I'm really proud to be associated with the Drummer Cafe!

Here's a link to a slideshow from the drum show. (I could get it to show up here.)
If was a great time going to the show for the first time. It was also great to meet Bart and Dave Heim. I went by the MaxHead booth but missed Hannah. The master class with Billy Ward was very beneficial, he was very helpful to everyone there, I believe. Bob Moses and Carmine Appice had good clinics as well. I wish I could've been there today to see the other clinics.

Thanks for putting me in your slideshow Bart, and after further reinforcemnt from you and Dave, I've changed my moniker from Bobhead to Jim R.

Had a great time at the Chicago Show on Saturday.  Hung with Bart and Bermuda and Jim R for a while.  Chatted with Hannah and her dad a bit.  Spent some time catching up and reminiscing with Bill Ludwig III (B3), and some of the other guys from Ludwig.  Had a few nice conversations with Mike Dorfman, Chris, and JT from Trick Drums.  Did quite a bit of trick-or-treating at the vendor booths.  Caught a couple of good clinics (Bob Moses and Carmine).  And came away very tired by the time they closed up at 5pm.

I had a gig Saturday night and Bart came out and caught the show.  And for those of you who wonder how he keeps the Cafe so fresh and up to date. . .  his laptop computer was ever-present and humming every spare minute - head bobbing in time to the music while working the site.

Oh, and I finally picked up an early 70's 5x14 no-tint Vistalite snare.  I'd been trolling all the usual places for about a year and hadn't found one I liked.  I got into the show about 2 hours early on a VIP pass and found the drum within an hour while the exhibitors were setting up.

Another great day at the Chicago Drum Show. I've got video footage from Billy Ward and Cindy Blackman clinics. Video interviews with Bill Ludwig III (B3), Curt Waltrip (Joyful Noise Drum Company), Steve Westphal (Vaughncraft Percussion), Ron Fink, and many, many others!

I've added some additional photos from today to the current slideshow. Video footage (interviews and clinics) coming soon once I have some time (?) to edit.

I unfortunately didn't win anything from the raffle; really wanted one of those Joyful Noise Snare Drums!  Grin  Steve Westphal of Vaughncraft Percussion gave me a VERY nice gift ... a Vaughncraft Tambourine! More on that later; I'll be reviewing it.

Both Billy Ward and Cindy Blackman played the tail-ends off today! I'll be sharing footage from their clinics on DCTV very soon!

I really wanted one of those Joyful Noise snares also, I played on all of the ones they had set up, the nickel plated ones really impressed me. I also fell in love with the UFIP cymbals. I really want one.  Smiley

I can't wait to see the clinic footage from Sunday that I missed. Glad you captured it Bart! Again, it was great to meet you and other DC members. Since I'm new hear if was cool to meet people from here so quickly. The show came at a great time. It was very memorable for me thanks to you and Dave and of course the chance to do a class with Billy Ward...Awesome! Everyone was so friendly at this show.

Hey Jim -

+1 on that Joyful Noise stuff.  Man, those are some nice drums.  That engraved snare you posted is gorgeous.  And it looked even better in person!  And the throw off is quite clever & innovative!

Hey Billy,

Dad told me he ran into you in the parking lot while I was parking the car.  I looked around  before we left but couldn't find you.  Sorry I missed you this time.  I'm sure our paths will cross again soon.

Take care and thanks for continuing to share your talent and your knowledge with us.

Did anyone else catch the Cindy Blackman Clinic? It blew my mind. That woman is amazing and so in touch with reality. Not to mention how skilled she is and her intense knowledge of the rich history of jazz drumming.  A real treat.

The show was awesome, even my guitar player liked it. heh.

Thanks for the slide show Bart. I seen that 1960's Whitehall set called "White Tiger" and about dropped my teeth. I have a '60's Slingerland set made about the same time. The color for that set was called "Tiger Eye" and they're very close in color. Only someone as old as me would remember those colors.  Grin

Sorry for the delay in getting my report done from the Chicago show. I've been messing with the video, trying to edit and repair dropped frames in the footage.  Angry  I have over 3 hours of video footage, so as you can imagine ... it's taking awhile.

I hope to have a chunk of it done and available on DCTV by this weekend; no promises. With gigs, sessions and family ... well, there's only so much time available.

Thanks for your patience!

Okay ... I've got a short video montage from the Chicago Drum Show, now featured on DCTV this week. I'm also showing several interviews this week; William F. Ludwig III (aka B3), Curt Waltrip - Joyful Noise Drum Company, and Steve Westphal - Vaughncraft Percussion. Clinic clips this week include Bob Moses and Carmine Appice. VIP Members can view all of the clinic footage I shot of Bob Moses (over 23 minutes) and Carmine Appice (over 13 minutes).

In the upcoming weeks I'll be sharing my interview with Bermuda Schwartz, Eric Sooy - Drum Foundry, Andy Foote - Drum Supply House, ThunderEcho Drums - Trash Kat, Max Heads, Ron Fink, Rock City Drum Company ... plus previews from the Cindy Blackman and Billy Ward clinics.
