Walter Robert Slingerland Jr., passed away on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 in North Carolina at the age of 80.

Although Walter Robert Slingerland Jr. didn't have an active role in the Slingerland Drum Company, he did play drums in several drum & bugle corps and spent a lot of time at the  Slingerland plant with his father Walter Sr.

The Slingerland family got out of the drum making business in 1970.

In 1996 Walter Jr. served as a consultant for the The Slingerland Book, just one year after Gibson USA began producing Slingerland drums in Nashville, TN.
