I use 14" Zildjian K-Custom Session Hats for my jazz band. They work well for many styles and feel AWESOME when you lay into them...they're a bit on the heaver side for my personal taste though.
Also note that quite often when I'm playing on open hats I'll take my foot completely off the pedal and just rest it on the ground.
I need to check out the Custom Sessions.
Maybe you need another pedal for your head foot to keep busy with.
Paiste 602 Sound Edge, that's what I love. They're more than 25 years old, I kept them in the cupboard for 20 years, and now I find them better than anything.
I have them quite loose, about 3/4 inch apart, and the bottom one is about 1/4 inch tilted.
Did Bonham use 602's at one time? or was is 2002's?
