Know you are pushing my buttons.

I haven't heard the product, although I have a fairly active involvement in this area.
from everything I've read, Mixosaurus is about as detailed a virtual drumkit can get at the moment. It's arguably the biggest library in terms of number and size of audio files (aka samples).
Incidentally, I think the hard drive aspect is somewhat of a red herring since other products come to you on multiple DVD disc and it takes just a short time period to load the contents on to a drive of your choice.
I think there are a few criteria worth mentioning with regards to virtual drum software.
Is it buggy?
Does it sound good
to you?
Is it v-drum friendly?
How much do you want to spend?
How important is variety to you?
No single virtual drum sample set will tick everyone's boxes.
As I said, I can't give you a definitive appraisal of Mixosaurus, but I'd say if you weren't crazy about the sound of this
single kit, the product would be useless to you.
Of course sound is objective, and with drums it can be governed by the drums recorded, the sound of the room, the tuning and head choice, the drummer, and the taste/skill of the recording engineer.
Other, rival products, offer multiple kits, recorded in different rooms, with different drummers etc, so there is arguably a better chance you will find usable sounds on those products.
If you have to buy something somewhat sight unseen, some other products list the drums they recorded, in some highly respected studios with some world class personnel involved. Having said that, I think there is a demo version of Mixosaurus you can download and try out, or at least some pre-recorded wav files you can download and have a detailed listen to.
