Just a fun thread for a stress free friday. Anything you have been searching for on ebay, saving up for or wanting for along time but have not found yet? I guess I will start if that's ok. No surprise, it's a sonor kit. But a maple shelled "hilite" in black diamond sparkle. Here let me find a pic! Oh my lord how I wantski so badski I can taste it! No have the money or even a clue where to find one tho'    |

This is the most fun game in the world: the "I want" game. Probablyl how I spend the majority of the downtime with my band mates. The Drumnetics double pedal:  www.drumnetics.com Its a springless pedal... amazing concept, I want to try it SOOOO BAD. It peaks my engineering curiousity. Also really really wanting to add some electroics to my set soon, a couple samples that would liven up the sound a little bit: bass drops, explosion noises, duck quack (?), etc... and one more... I want to add an 18" tom to my 4 piece (18x22, 14x12, 16x16, and 7x13 snare). I love the thundering lows. sigh... someday. Great topic! |

I'm on the lookout for a 1970's Vistalite 5x14 snare drum - no tint. Still kicking myself for not buying one while I was with the company. I'm hoping I might see one at the Chicago Show next month.

I'm on the lookout for a 1970's Vistalite 5x14 snare drum - no tint. What is the reason behind this Dave? (I actually am playing my jellybeans at a party this weekend, only with the 5.5 zickos clear tho'). I am torn about this particular kit and snare. |

My lust is for a natural finish kit. The pieces and dimensions are not out there in the wild, so the only way to do it is to have it custom built. Which requires a pesky winning Lotto ticket.

oh oh oh, electric trigger xylophone like neil pert used in the R30 30th anniversary Rush DVD... mmmmmm.
Also want to add some hard cases... my poor drums rattle around in our band trailer in those soft cases... my babies.
I'm almost afraid to admit on here that I'm a sucker for the super trendy keller shell custom drum co's like shine, or truth, or six gun, or ghost. Any of those kits... 2 bass drums (22x22), toms at 12x14, 16x16 and 16x18.
Anyone else want to skip out of work early and go jam for a while? Cause I get that feeling... bad. I bet my cubicle neighbors get annoyed with the constant rudiments on the desk.

A little bit of nostalgia, I suppose. Plus I've always liked the sound and the look of the no-tint Vistalites. So, this would be another snare for the arsenal. I suppose if I had the chance to buy a complete Vistalite set I'd consider it. Though, I'm looking at a Trick set this year to go with the Trick snare I picked up last summer. |

What happened to that one? People love vistalites. The tone of them is kinda dead though once you get past all the overtones. They sure cut thru though. People go ape when I take the jellybeans out. I don't really know why. Flashback I guess  |

Shell packs were going for about 3500. It was a limited edition color, and they're all sold out. They turn up on ebay and in shops once in a while. |

Walnut Craviotto kit, 14x26 10x14 16x16 16x18
I've lusted after that kit too. The ultimate kit I don't already own would be some kind of solid Craviotto. Other than that, an Oaklawn Camco in rock sizes and in better condition than the one I already own. I'd consider a Timeless Timber DW and a Sonorlite, but I'm not prepared to pay the high prices both these kits generally go for. |

Ive wanted a Sonor designer kit (light) in blue sparkle for years. I saw Wil Calhoun on a set in a tribute to Larrie Londin video and it was the most beautiful kit ive ever seen....and ive been around awhile.

well, you would have to find one first. Then the dood would have to be in the selling mood. Buying a vintage sonor kit is usually not a smooth and pleasant experience. I'd say a 6 piece set of those could be in the two to 3.5 range depending on condition, sizes/pieces and really what the guy wants for them. There are less of these than scandi sonorlites. I love sonorlites (birch), don't get me wrong- but the hilite, especially in this color is a little closer to my taste and sound. And I have NEVER heard a more monstrous kick sound in a kit. RAWK! But yeah, I have a friend here in cleveland whom I met thru the sonor board and he has a deep violet hilite kit- 10, 12, 13, 16, 22" set with a matching 8" deep snare. He loves these drums and I've had the pleasure of playing them. Lucky for me he bought an SQ2 kit so he is considering selling these to me. Considering being the operative word there. And I would rather have a black diamond finish than the violet. But I think I might get a decent deal on them. Hopefully under 2K. |

My current object of desire is a set of DW Jazz Series drums... the tonal quality is just great. I heard a set side by side with an identical Collector's series (in terms of sizes) kit and it was just night & day. The Jazz series just has the "it" factor for me. A bit of throatiness, kind of a naturally higher pitch but with some warmth -- not a tin-can high ringiness. I'd also like to hear a Legacy Classic kit because they look great, but they don't offer the sizes + finish I want so it's hard to totally play the gear lust game there.  Oh, and I heard a K Con at Chad Sexton's last week that absolutely killed. But mostly: DW Jazz series. That's what I'm saving my extra pennies for. |

The used Tama Starclassic Birch that i had my eye on just got snatched up by somebody esle. oh what a sad day.
I always love sitting down and playing the DW at GC. The local guys care enough to tune it up. I just sit there and play so simply and just listen to the toms ring. ahhhh.

One of my close friends has a SC birch kit and it sounds great! I play it all the time when I'm over there. He's always trying to sell it and it's his best sounding kit! Me and his wife are like "you're crazy if you sell that!"
DW's are fab. I bought one in 1989 for 4000 bucks with cymbals and cases. That was a huge amount of money for me now and especially back then. My god, tho' that kit sounded so warm and resonant! I really learned what "maple" was all about with that kit. I sold it for 1700 bucks 10 years later. Great drums. Inspired the whole thin shell maple revolution which now seems pase'. At least those are my thoughts anyways.

I keep running into used Tama SC Birch kits... Everywhere I go they're calling my name. I acutally got to tune one up at GC last night and I really liked it. I think the axe is falling... me and a SC birch are going to hook up soon.
Until then, I take a towel with me to GC to wipe up the drool.

I was kinda hopin' to get some trick drums some day. I'm curious of their aluminum shells, and their quality and sounds.... As informed by Dave, they're quite loud and low end. And custom finishes seem to have a nice effect on them.    |
