DIY Drum Trigger

I've read a TINY bit on some other forums about making your own drum triggers with piezo's from radio shack. Does anyone have any experience with this?

What about using a standard trigger on a non-drum item (piece of wood, hunk of plastic, etc)?

Creative uses of this concept?
