Funny thing is ... well, another funny thing ... I've seen similar drums on eBay ... so either this one never sells so they recover it with a different wrap and auction it again .... or there's more than one!

I think there's more than one ... so it's not one of a kind.

Rrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiighhhht.

And enjoy yourself as you have to continue to order those "custom ordered" drumheads for the rest of your life.

6" heads are readily available so the batter shouldnt be to hard.  as for the snare side, you can remove a layer from an emperor or double thin ... its a tad heavier than a snare side usually is, but thinner than anything else, and pretty functional too Smiley

Would such a drum be heard well?

I actually have been thinking about this snare.  Crazy huh?  I would never actually buy one.

It would sound like a bongo drum with snare wires on it... probably pretty unique sounding.

In HS we had ludwig stainless steel quads with a 6" and 8" concert tom set up.  The heads, some of you might remember these, were the ludwig "ensemble" heads and were stretched almost an inch over the rim.  What a clean and cutting rimshot one could obtain from these things.  The sound would carry like you wouldn't believe.

come on!!! you know you want it!!!

honestly id rather get the 8" blackhawk steel.  not as clever, but a bit more practical.
