I'm currently employed by a large corporation... primarily for getting medical insurance.  For those who are self employed, how do you obtain insurance?  I understand that my group plan would cost me $1,200 per month if I had to pay for it myself... I won't qualify for Medicare for ten more years...

I've considered quitting my corporate job but don't know what I'd do for medical insurance.  What are my choices?

Hullo. I don't know what all your options are... but I can tell you I pay around $350/month to Primera/BlueCross and I have a HIGH deductible of $3400. I also use a Health Savings Account-- the gov'unment allows you to save dough in a specified 'health' account, spend the dough on med costs (only), and deduct it from your taxes. The deluxe plan from same company, with a 500 deductible, is $640 a month. I'm 48.

I have similar thoughts.  I'm with a corporation, but I could see a sequence
of events leading to me being self employed.

This isn't very helpful, but one easy way is to - get spousal unit with insurance.    Smiley
My wife went back to work - as a teacher - 3 years ago, and when the
tenure comes, that will be my way to relax about medical insurance.
