hi. need some help choosing a drum machine that has clicks and backing tracks to practise to. i used to have the roland td8 kit, and used the brain to play along to with my acoustic kit. but i sold that and now find practising to just a metronome pretty dull. was lookin at the alesis sr16, but as with all these machines, they're focused on drum sounds and patterns whereas i want something thats focused on decent tracks to play along to.
any ideas would be welcome... cheers.

i practice along to my roland td3. it has a click & you can change the count on it, so its a nice way of messing around in weird timings.. i dont know why you wouldnt get some good cd's though and play them through headphones.. it seems cheaper & more fun (if you find the right drummer)

cheers for that. think the td3 is a bit pricey though. was lookin to spend 100/150 bucks on something. i do play along to cd's, but its nice to have a)a click and b) being able to mute the drum track.
so do you rate the alesis sr16 to practise drums along to? do you know if it has many preset tracks on it? have read reviews on it but can't seem to find any decent descriptions.

Check out the Boss Dr. Rhythm Section.  It has quite a few sounds and lot of pre-programmed patterns.  You can find them on eBay for well within your price range.

Have a look at Hydrogen (http://www.hydrogen-music.org). It's easy to use, lots of examples and last but not least ... it's free.
