Pat Mastelotto.

I've been hit over the head with his playing the last few days and forgot how much I like it. His Mr. Mister stuff -- great straight-up rock. King Crimson - a great addition in that world. Now I hear his bit with Gavin Harrison and it hits me how much Pat's sonic palette seems to have increased in the last several years. Amazing and tasty.

I think Will Champion of Coldplay is underrated, maybe's he's considered more up and coming. He has some of the coolest beats on tunes that you don't get to hear much on popular music and the music gives him room to be very dynamic and muscial and also room for bashing. What a great gig for a drummer!
There new album is coming in June I believe.

Well, to give you an idea of how underrated this guy is, I haven't ever been able to find his name!

Gavin Harrison from Porcupine Tree.

Not exactly the most amazing drummer in the world, but still very impressive, and I've never really met anyone who really knew who Porcupine Tree were, but then again, I could be wrong

Don't know if anyone mentioned Eric Kretz formerly of Stone Temple Pilots. Always loved his melodic playing in particular his fills are more extentions of his main drum beat for each song.

Teddy Campbell (American Idol House Band)

I've watched most of this season's American Idol episodes and the guys is good... but I often found he was overplaying and really didn't need to.

Just my 2 cents...  Wink

I like to mention some outstanding European drummers. These names may be spread world wide ..... Wink

Sweden's: Morgan Agren: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/0xVuAJu97XY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/0xVuAJu97XY</a>

Belgium's: Stephane Galland (master of polyrhythms):

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/3RzALDUhSh4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/3RzALDUhSh4</a>

or Bruno Meeus:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/wgrsbjYPZ3A" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/wgrsbjYPZ3A</a>

There are some excellent (in English) instructional videos from him on You Tube.

Holland's own Hans Eijkenaar: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/cghh3QnVavU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/cghh3QnVavU</a>. See him here playing with Gino Vanelli 'people gotta move'. Also take notice of the percussionist Jeroen de Rijk. Watch the nice solo section.

French's Roger Biwandu : <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/YcEN69KCUXY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/YcEN69KCUXY</a> playing Palladium

... and so on ....
