'71 Ludwig Micro-Bop

« on: June 27, 2008, 12:47 AM »

I just discovered
Graham Bond
, a British keyboard player of the early '60's who was an early influence in bringing the blues/R&B sound into English pop music of the time.  This clip from the film Gonks Go Beat (1965; looks like a British Beach Blanket Bingo take off), features a young Baker as well as Jack Bruce (harmonica and bass).  Check out the drum kit...looks like a Ludwig with an Acro snare drum!

Great vid. I love it.  I wonder how much these guys would pay to have it removed from YouTube.....

There's more footage of this band on You Tube from a jazz and blues festival, circa 1965 or so, doing  a Muddy Waters tune.   The band was way on and Ginger just killed it.  No phoning it in there.
