Hey everyone,

I've had the idea in my head for a long time now of converting one of my old 13 or 14" toms into a snare just by mounted the snare hardware appropriately and messing with the tuning.  I have recently met a guy on craigslist that has done this and he said with good results.

Has anyone done this?  Any experiences to share?  Maybe just some thoughts or suggestions on the subject.

Thanks!

In theory that will work fine.  It will probably be deeper than most snares so that would make it unique.  Drilling and installing a throw and butt isn't too hard.  The only caveat is that you would likely need to add snare beds to the bottom bearing edge.  Although you could try it without and see what happens.  Let us know how it goes!
