Bart....further to my recent post on adding a tom, and your recommendation of 10".....I play Ludwig classic maple and noticed this on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=936275230

Do you know what these are, I've never seen this badge before, don't know if they would be compatable with my kit.

Thanks in advance.

I can't tell you anything about them, so that's why I moved your question so the entire board can answer.

When I used to play in a symphonic band they had a similar Ludwig tom tom settup.  They were at least 15 years old and pretty beat up but sounded pretty good considering the heads were probably original.

I can't tell from the e-bay picture but they look similar to the ones I'm talking about, except the mounting system on these looks a lot newer and nicer.

I see the last bid is for $139.00.  If you can get them for near that price it may be worth taking a chance.

i believe the oval badge is used for ludwigs accent line.  which is thier bottom of the line line ... line ... Smiley

anyway, not a bad drum, but a wrapped asian mahog.  its not a maple classic, but could work regardless.

Yeah, I'd say those are definately the newer designed Ludwig logo badges. I also think that they are bottom of the line, but still a good deal for that price

They are from the Accent series.  If you are playing a set of Classic Maples you will not be happy with them.  The Accents are great for the money but don't hold a candle to the CM's.  Why not just order a 10" tom to match your kit?  If it is a CM kit then add-on's are available.  They haven't even changed any finishes in that line yet, so a match is a snap.  As far as the badges go:
Oval-Accent, Rocker and Rocker Elite
Silver Keystone-Classic Birch
Gold Keystone-Classic Maple
anything else is obsolete.

Thanks guys for the response.  Will order a CM to match the kit rather than monkey with these imports...the Accent line is not what I am after.
