Anyone have any suggestions. I want a snare drum that will be able to be tuned high and some what low. Rightnow i have a 5 1/2 X14 snare but im looking for something different.

a 13x5.5, in maybe a steel or brass shell is pretty versatile.  

nice high pitched crack, but resonant enough for some nice low tunings.

i've been thinking about adding one to my arsenal.

The Omar Hakim signature drum comes to mind while I ponder these specifications.  I'm a fan of lower snare drum sounds myself, but I was mightily impressed with the beef that drum can have for a 13" diameter.
