It's like a Buzz Roll except that you dig in a bit more, lightly pressing the sticks into the head as your roll.

Many may disagree, but I have split up the closed rolls into three separate types. Technically they are the same, but I use the terms to describe the sound that is produced.

I just explained the Press Roll. The Buzz Roll is a closed roll which sounds like "ripping paper". The Press Roll is the same, but digging into the head more ... causing a slight choked sound in the roll. And last but not least is the Multiple Bounce Roll which is the same as a Buzz Roll, but when I say Multiple Bounce ... I play it more open and airy than the Buzz Roll. There are multiple bounces (more than two, usually three, four, or more) within each stroke of the stick, but more space in between the bounces than the Buzz Roll has.

In my buzz rolls, I get a lot of bounces per stick, which is determined on the speed of the pulses (strokes) in the roll. With multiple bounce rolls, I tend to only have three or four strokes per pulse or stroke of the stick.

Multiple Bounce Roll should not be confused with a Three-Stroke Roll.
