Just standard light trainers now, I have tried playing bare footed and with those light weight cheep pumps that seem popular with skaters, I saw a benefit for a couple of hours, but if you play enough I think your muscles will adapt to most sensible footwear.  If I had to play in a tux or whatever, I think I would try Barts suggestion of a split sole dancing shoe.   N |

where can i get some bowling shoes, i saw the pimpest ones at the alley a while ago, they were the only size 13 pair they had! they were blue and brown, the whole time i was seat & floor drumming (to the annoyance of my friends) and i didnt wanna give them up, will they sell them to you?

Before I got my Iron Cobras, I found that I could do blazingly fast doubles on my old WFL pedal, but only in socks. I wonder if that means I need to practice more in shoes?  Usually I play in socks; they're most comfortable for me on the footboard. I like a little sliding action. |

There's a ballroom dance shoe made by a company called Supadance from England that I wear at nicer gigs. VERY thin leather soles with a normal 3/4" heel, but the shoe itself looks like a plain black three hole laced dress oxford. Great for pedal feel and control. |

I prefer to play barefooted, but the heel plates on my DW500's hurt after a while. However I have been considering trying wrestling shoes. Anyone tried these yet?

Chuck Taylor's are the shoes of choice for many drummers, especially those of us old enough to remember when they were cool the first time. =)
There's a killer jazz drummer here in Phoenix who's rigged his black CCT's so he can wear them at casuals, formals, wherever. He dyed them black and put a velcro lip over the top of the shoe laces. He played one hoighty toighty jazz gig that went to DVD. I think I'm the only one who ever notices he's wearing 30-year-old basketballl shoes with his rented tux!
Only downside to those things is they only come in whole sizes (no halves). It's really hard to find some that fit both snug and comfy.
I also find that Converse Hi-Tops are the most comfortable for me when playing kit. A couple of points here: 1)right now I'm looking at two pair of CT's, size 10½. One pair is fairly new. 2)One of these pair is solid black, as made by Converse - look for "monochrome black" in the description. There are hi-tops and low-cuts available. |

I cant even stand shoes. I cant wear them when I drive and especially when I play I need to feel what Im doing. Heck I dont even own a pair of shoes

I just bought a new pair of vans, and i like em. I used to use some old converses when drumming, but these Vans are nice and stiff

Mostly I wear plain, New Balance tennis shoes. If it's a dressy occasion, I have a pair of slip-on shoes I got at Target for around $20. They are black suede and feel like a tennis shoe, and I get them a half size small for snugness. They are made by "Utility" I think.
I know Dave Weckl used to endorse Vic Firth "Kickers" back in the early '90s. They aren't made anymore, that I know of.
