« on: March 12, 2003, 11:00 AM »

Just wondered if anyone had any experience with these splash and if there is anything special about them or if they are just 3 regular splash cymbals with an artist name on them??

Cheers, Will

Do you refer to the Max-Stack things? or whatever they are called..

I didnt play on the max-stacks....but I do know that if you buy a few cheap Stagg splashes or Wuhan splashes, and customise a splash holder, You can get almost the same effect for 20% of the Max-Stack price Wink

I don't have them but the Portnoy Max Splashes are smaller than most other splashes, also they decay really quickly and sound slightly trashy if I remember correctly.

although i have never play on them... i've heard read articles on his signature cymbals... such as his stacks and splash.... and they're all described as have a fast and abrupt sound.... i mean, they're rock cymbals.... you'll probably find that they're a higher pitched sound, that are pretty loud.
