Hey guys ! I know this is last minute but I have percussion auditions Monday or Tuesday and I have to have a prepared piece and I dont know what to play ! I want a two mallet piece that isn't gonna take me forever to learn but isn't easy cheesy! Anyone have any suggestions on a piece and where I can find it !? THANK YOU !!!

Modern School for Xylophone, Marimba, Vibraphone by Morris Goldenberg. It's got a little something for everyone. I don't have the foggiest idea where you could get before Monday though...... check any music shops that sell band instruments, they usually have percussion music. That's about all I can say Undecided

I'm with Hippie on this one. Find an etude in the Goldenberg book.

The auditioners are probably just looking to be sure you can play moderately well. A G'berg etude is just the ticket.

just make sure you play P&B at the right tempo.

The Goldenberg book is the best tho.. realy good stuff in there. If i had a keyboard around, I'd get my old book out.

2-mallet is ok, but 4-mallet would be more impressive. Try '2 Mexican Dances' its repetitive, and exercises good intependance.

If you want an idea for other 2-mallet pieces, try picking a Motzart, Bach, or Chopin sonata for a wind instrament. Those work well, too.
