What is it that you want to do with your electronics?  Not everything requires a sequencer.

I just bought my TrapKat used (2.0) last fall. At the time, I was using the D4 for my sound module as well. Not doing anything more than just playing electronic drums instead of acoustic. The D4's a good unit, however I was wanting to play with a wider variety of sounds for the TrapKat, over the DK-10 I had been using. Due to catching it for a good price, I upgraded to a Roland XV-3080 synthesizer and used it through the winter, however I got frustrated with it, because it's a quite a bit harder to cusomize sounds on that a dedicated drum unit. Tremendous amount of sounds, but more for a studio person than a middle aged drummer such as myself.

I'd been moaning about it for a while in a couple different forums, and I finally had enough of it and snagged a used Roland TD-10 off of eBay. I've had that unit for 3 or 4 weeks now, and I'm very pleased with it's ease of use, and sound quality. And it works beatifully with the TrapKat!. If you need to watch the budget, I imagine the TD-8 would be a good choice as well. Both units have some sequencing capabilities from what I see in their product overviews, but I've never used that feature so I'll reserve comment for someone more familiar with those features.
