I have an 802 20" ride.  It's a good cymbal; plenty of definition with a slight wash (it's more suited for light to medium playing, which is right up my alley.  YMMV).  It's no K, but rather a good cymbal suited to a more 'commercial' sound, if you will.  I do like the deep lathing on the cymbal; this seems to be uncommon with cymbals in this price range.

I played either a 402 or 502 (the nickel silver one) crash a few times; it belonged to a friend upon whose kit I played at rehearsals.  Quite frankly, it sounded a little "boingy" for my taste, much like the crash in Led Zeppelin's BBC version of 'Dazed and Confused'.

I say, if you wish to stick with Paiste (have you looked elsewhere as well?), go with the 802's, or even the Alpha's if you possibly can.

I'm more of a fan of the Alpha series. In my opinion, they're probably some of the best values for price. The 302's sounded rather....rather like hitting a pot lid to me. I'm a bit more impressed by the 802 series cymbals I've looked at, but I'd definately recommend the Alphas over both of those. And they're not much more, price wise.

302 = brass
402 = nickel silver
502 & 802 = B8 bronze

but they do put a little more work in the 802's and i think you can hear the difference.  the alphas are B8 as well, and again, another step up.

the 802s are great for hard rock. the alphas are a little thin if you're looking to really blast.

I have a Bronze 502 20" ride that does well at low and moderate playing levels.  For the money it's nice.

sorry..... Embarrassed

i got my hands on the 16" crash, 14" hats and 20" ride which are sold in a box.  Cymbals great but the box is sadly unremarkable.  Wink

but seriously the cymbals work for me, ride is a little much for my ears but still sounds good enough.  There a good first set i reakon which wont have to be replaced straght away if your playing in bands and stuff.

and now after rereading what you said........i meant i got 802's

man i feel silly
