Without music id be lost.....

WWW

Hey been awhile.   Im still in the market for some good hardware.  I have been to guitar center and looked at some stuff and they all kinda feel the same.  I mean some have little extras on it but even the single braced stuff feels as sturdy as the double brased stuff.  Im on a tight budget and IM going for a "hardware pack" on music123..

Any info someone could give.  Remember IM on a budget ..  It's hard to tell what hardware is good till you play out with it for a month or two and see if it's still standing.

They both look fine.

I lean a little towards the Gretsch pack, because the snare stand looks better to me.

It looks like heavy stuff. Are you sure you need double braced?

I would look at Tama, Pacific, Pearl and Yamaha also...

Also, look at www.midwestpercussion.com they seem to have killer prices on hardware.  You could call them and tell them what you are looking for and they might give you a package deal.

IMHO

I'd go with the Gretch, too, but before you order, I'd go back to GC and talk with the sales guy.  I recently scored some good Pacific stands from them, that are very sturdy (especially if you play hard).

But your sig tells me your in Atlanta... in that case, go to Atlanta Pro Percussion (www.atlantapropercussion.com).  Those guys are good, and they treat you well.

the Gibralter JZ (might be sold as Gretsch) and Yamaha are the sturdiest single braced ive encountered.

Yamaha hardware is the ultimate. (In my humble opinion of course  Grin )

He's looking to stick to a budget though.  Sad

I hate budgets....

part of sticking to a budget is only spending the money once.  not saying you should go broke here, but its cheaper to spend $200 once than $150 twice.

amd its a lot cheaper to pay $200 once than to pay $150 and then pay the $200 a short time later.

Yeah budgets kinda suck..  I don't want to spend over $250 for a set of hardware.  this including a bass pedal to update my speedking which still works like a charm.

Im leaning twards the gretch because ive only heard good things about gibraltar stuff.   but the premier comes with two booms which is nice..

I have alot of tooth pics left over from a grill out that my subdivision had.  If I bought some paper thin cymbals and use the right glue I might be able to get away with my own wood hardware.  What kind of wood are tooth picks made of?

As far as I'm concerned, the general rule is, the lighter the better.  I really don't see the point of double braced H.W.  Maybe I'm missing something.  Notwithstanding the lightness-convenience issue, some of the HW I like for functional design are:

- Yamaha single braced stands,
- Pearl snare stand with dual unilock joint for 360 degree mobility (it's double braced but very lightweight and works better than the Yammy ball and socket design and is 1/2 the price),
- Tama Leverglide HH stand,
- Tama Iron Cobra BD pedal (I haven't tried the Yammy Flying Dragons yet).

hmm out of the two.. i am with everybody else
i would go for the gretsch
but i dont know if you people get this brand in USA
but theres this company called CB drums
and they r like the cheapest company ever i mean their brand new
kit starts at 399.99 so yeah i bought a stand from them
only 35 dollars for double braced and it is heavier than my
boom stand by pearl.. and it is way sturdier
so if u get CB there buy their double braced hard ware
very cheap and very sturdy  Grin
