I assume most of you by now have seen this pedal, or others like it.  If you haven't, check it out www.duallist-usa.com

What are your opinions on these types of pedals?  Are they a "Cheater" pedal, or are they the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Have any of you guys tried using one of these things?
It takes a complete overhaul of you're technique to get the hang of one of those monsteres!
Does anybody remember a gatchet called the Vruk?
( I think that was the name)

irishthump, to be honest, no I hav'nt BUT the advertising suggests it makes it easier to master those fast kick patterns and to me, thats cheating. Now im slightly qualified to say this as my feet are pretty slow due to Arthritis in my anckles so I would be an ideal candidate BUT I would feel it was cheating at my craft.

Id rather play slow feet patters and it be ALL ME rather than have a peddle that allows me to skip the burn..

Anyway, its never a good thing to skip on technique.....there isnt many fast tracks in drumming, not at higher levels (im not pointing any fingers here Smiley)

My opinions thats all..............

Hey, sorry, no offence!
I think it's cheating too, my point is they make out like it will make it easier for you to master double bass licks, but in reality you have to alter your foot technique so much that it's just not worth the effort.
But anyway, the Vruk was a metal plat that attached to the footboard of any pedal and allowed you to play strokes with your heel. It was an absolute NIGHTMARE to use.

Sorry if I came over as agressive......Im not always the best person to put things the right way Smiley

I just reason if I cant do something then I cant even if the hardware would let me........Some people would say I was foolish but I would say its old fashoned honesty.

I want to have a good drumming conscience.....Smiley

Very true! Bad technique can't be improved by flashy hardware, only by graft!

I've tried them -total crap in my opinion.   You'll never get the dynamic control you could from two pedals, or, in my case -a double pedal.    Angry

Hold up here! You guys are approaching this from the wrong angle.
You have to look at this new device as exactly that, ... a new device.
Imagine the heat that was dished out when the first double pedal came out. "should be able to do this with one pedal. ... Buddy Rich does!" "get rid of my second bass drum! What ... do I look stupid!"

Folks looked at the double pedal as a one-eyed monster! But, have a few people start to master the device, then drummers got to have it!

These dual pedals should not be likened to, or compared with a double pedal. It is a totally new instrument for the drummer. It would be mastered in a totally different and new way.

This device (although it could be used in place of a double pedal ... and think of the quick set-up and pack-up, not to mention less bulk in your kit) should be thought of as another tool to create great drumming.

As far as the Duallist, Peter ... not all of these pedals are created equal. I , like you, thought these were gimmicky. Then I tried the new pedal at the last NAMM show by Sonor. WOW!

Don't knock them all ... till you've tried them all!

I'm not trying to take sides here, but I'll have to agree with dj on this one.  I mean, yeah, it looks like a true piece of crap to me, but try one of the more well known brands and see what you think before casting judgement.
