Hey all...

I need to make a quick decision on a gear purchase. I'm in desperate need of a live PA monitor. I want to get one of these small ones that fits on a mic stand. I found this one on sale made by Valley Audio (through Musicians Friend)...

I've never heard of Valley Audio. Anyone know how good they are?

I'm familiar with the Galaxy Hot Spot series, but the one above is a better price.

How much sound do these things put out? Are they harsher than the floor wedges? I don't necessarily need one for pushing drum mixes through, so I don't need a lot of bass. It's primarily a vocal monitor since I do a lot of vocal harmonies live.

Any advice?

I have not used these particular monitors, so I asked a producer/sound engineer friend of mine ... who's ears and opinion I trust. Here's what he said:

It's very similar to the Hot Spots.....personally they're ok for small gigs if you just need to hear yourself in a very raw sense.....audio-wise, they're just as bad as the Hot Spots as far as fidelity goes.....I wouldn't use them unless it was the only thing that would work ... hope that helps ... it's a very subjective thing: what's good?
