so these drum heads are horrible! i used them for one show and they are ruined... and i only play medium hard.  I dont know what went wrong. i know i keep my heads looser than most to get a low note, but i was doing that with crappy Fighter skins and they lasted me a year!  i think they may have been in storage for several years, can drum heads ruin in that situation?

I don't know about storage, but I know in general that stock heads such as Pearl Protones aren't too keen.  Popular exceptions include Premier and Ludwig (this may be disputed by some).

Yeah, Premier heads seem to be pretty good, maybe Remos with Premiers' logo.

I replaced the Remo pinstripes on my practice kit at home with my used Protones, and have been hitting them pretty hard as I do my Bonzo immitation.  No problems for me.  For a stock head they actually sound decent and have held up well.  I tune them fairly tight.  YMMV.

Well, that will stop most any head from denting, from what I've seen.

As for Premier heads—no, I think that Premier makes them; the coating is much thicker than Remo's, and the hoop is different.

I busted my 10" tom protone on the third day that I owned my elx's. I'm not a hard hitter. I realize that things just happen but protones are junk IMO.

Yeah, Premier does manufacture their own heads. They used to at least, don't know if the "new" Premier is.

Pearl stock heads suck. They are absolutely terrible. No tone, lousy fit, and they don't last.
