I think that the most easily cracked cymbal are the Wuhan cymbals, but if you hit them the correct way (side to side, not head on) they will last much longer. But besides that the Zildjian ZBTs break easily, even if not hit head on.  They sound amazing, but they break terribly easy. Ive gone through 2 ZBT crashes and 1 ZBT splash. That is why crashes are sold for 45 and splashes for 30. My splash hasnt cracked since the first cracking, but when the 2nd crash cracked, i went with the amazinf sound Paiste crash. Anyone got any other easily break able cymbals?

i don't crack cymbals.. i know many hardhitters that NEVER cracks cymbals...

It's about using the proper technique and finding the right cymbal for the right job! Or else the cymbal will get abused!

People sometimes don't realise that some cymbals won't sound any more if you hit them harder (each cymbals has different dynamics, don't apply the same thought on every cymbal. Get to know them!)

I dunno if cracking should really be apart of a drummers life (when we are so daamn poor all the time!  Cool ). Or am i just crazy??

Yeah when I first started playing, I was using the med. thin crashes, playing with the AHEAD aluminum rock sticks and trying to play death metal. Bad combo, lol.

I soon realized that I needed way thicker cymbals and not to swing at them like I was swinging a bat. And of course the guitar player had to TURN HIS AMP DOWN!!! lol.

One time I was playing and not only did the head break but the stick kind of sank down into the shell about 5 or 6 inches. Some duct tape fixed it right up though.

you guys know Im joking, right?

A good way to threaten somebody is to light a stick of dynamite. Then you call the guy and hold the burning fuse up to the phone. "Hear that?" you say. "That's dynamite, baby."

My advice to you: DON'T use Ahead sticks man.

I cracked my Paiste 18" Alpha Power crash with those darn Lars Ulrich signatures.
