I'm beating on Pearl these days, mainly because my new BRX kit is, well, so new to me! I'll never give up my Fibes. Those are my balls-out rock drums. But I'm enjoying this little 18" kick and the 15" floor tom. Jury's still out on the 12" tom though. And the brass 6.5" deep Sensitone I just picked up is working very well for me too. All in all, a very dark-sounding kit.

I'm in the 'other' group--I'm playing a Remo set. It is the Legero line. I hope to move up to a better set sometime and keep these as a second set.

Thanks! how those remo's working for you I normally use Aquarians for live performance to get that extra UMPH. But I put on the REMOs under the advice of my guy at GC. As he put it, "you're playing to the microphones in the studio, not to the audience beyond the stage." His recommendation is Aquarians for live, REMOs for studio. Besides, the REMOs were cheaper and I was broke!  I probably could have used Aquarians, but opted to take the REMOs. I put those heads on the day before the 03.30.03 recording session and the same heads are STILL on the kit! They hold up and take a real beating (literally!). I'll be replacing them later this month with Aquarians. Oh.. my previous kit was a Yamaha Stage Custom... loved it! |

Ludwig Classic Maples (built August 2001). I bought 8x8, 8x10 , 9x12, 10x13, 16x16, 16x18 and 16x22. Current set up is 10, 12, 16, 22, with a Mapex Black Panther Aluminum 5 x 14 SD.
My slop-around kit is an old (c. 1985) Pearl Prestige World Series kit in Chines (or Ferrari) Red. I only have the 12, 16 and 22 left of that one. This kit is actually in use rith now 'cuz I'm playing some music with a pick-up band of guys at work for our annual corporate meeting next month.

Other. WAY other... I am currently using a Roland V-Club, with one-ply, genuine plastic shells and rubber heads. I do have one acoustic part to my kit: a 16" Sabian AAX bright crash for crescendo rolls. This kit is good for a guy who is married (and wants to stay that way!), has a 6 and a 9 year old, and likes to practice when others are sleeping (4:30am sometimes!). Just got to lay off the Sabian at that hour! It is good for small church use, too. Doug |

Sonor Force 3000's - Birch/ Got the ferromag steel on there...man, I love this set up. With the aquarian dots this drumset is all about projection
the beater kit are the Yamaha Club Customs - Birch/ Mahogany/ Sawdust ...warm, with good focused sustain
I use the yamaha manu katche 5.5 brass with this kit...great drum

I got back into drumming late last year and bought a used 5 piece Yamaha Stage Custom (sapphire blue) with New Beat hats and a Sabian AA crash for $300. I've since added another crash and Paiste ride. They're a few years old, but the kid i bought them from hardly touched them. I replaced the barely-used original heads with Remo Emperors. I play a 6x13 Baltimore Drums snare and also have a Rogers Dynasonic from the '60s. I'm back to using my old Ghost bass drum pedal too (yep! i'm an old school "boom chick" drummer).

I'm currently using a set of Yamaha stage custom standard. BUT! My new set is on the truck an is scheduled for delivery next Tuesday. It is a Yamaha Absolute set of Birch and Maple in silver sparkle.
