we got to have our first practice today.  it's wonderful only having a two piece band, we  don't have big schedules to work around to get a practice in.  and this is the first band i've been in where the whole band was serious.  by the end of the day we'd started getting a really good handle on eac other's playing style and really started working together.

we took a break to go find a piece of bamboo to make a case for bill's penny whistle(his main instrument.)  we happened upon this beautiful spot along a stream where a waterfall goes into a nice sized pool with some big rocks on one side and the bamboo forest going down to the edge on the other.  it had such beautiful atmosphere and awesome natural background noise that we've decided to record there.  we'll probably go back next weekend with a tape recorder, a friend and a digital video camera.

probably get a friend(computer whiz) to transfer the tapes onto his computer, rework them and burn CD's.

this band rocks.

Drums and a penny whistle?  Sounds interesting?

The techniques, though they play an important role in the early stage, should not be too restrictive, complex or mechanical. If we cling to them, we will become bound by their limitation.  Any technique, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it.

i found out from the friend that would record that he might be able to play berimbau for us AND that he can rip mp3's from the video.

which cuts out the extra step of running the tape recorder to the computer!

Deep Echo.  Is that your band name? If it is i love it, and if not i might have to steal it.
